Job Duties

The General Farm Worker will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Clean greenhouses and farm facilities
  • Handle and tend animals
  • Maintain bee yards and beekeeping equipment
  • Mix and apply fertilizers
  • Monitor animal health
  • Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops
  • Track and report feed inventory
  • Weed fields and growing areas
  • Fertilize and spray crops
  • Feed and care for animals
  • Clean barns, stables, pens, and barnyards
  • Detect disease and health issues in crops and livestock
  • Prepare daily progress reports
  • Cut horticultural crops
  • Harvest seedlings and crops
  • Tie and secure plants
  • Follow sustainable soy farming practices including crop rotation and water management
  • Interact with bees using knowledge of bee biology and behaviour
  • Repair and maintain farming equipment
  • Remove suckers and water sprouts manually
  • Clean harvested crops

Skills Requirements

Education

  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required

Experience

  • 2 years to less than 3 years of related farm work experience preferred

Experience and Specialization

  • Apiary and honey harvesting experience
  • Apiary management experience

Crop Experience

  • Bell peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Soybeans
  • Tomatoes

Equipment and Machinery Experience

  • Automated irrigation systems
  • Feeding and watering systems
  • Automated environmental control equipment
  • Manure handling and storage systems
