Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent research abilities, and a solid understanding of legal procedures. This role offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the legal field while contributing to the efficient operation of our firm. Candidates should have prior administrative or clerical experience and demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Duties
- Prepare, proofread, and review legal documents, correspondence, and filings with high accuracy.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and other online resources to support case development.
- Manage case files and documents using iManage or similar document management systems, ensuring proper filing and organization.
- Assist with project management tasks related to ongoing cases, including tracking deadlines and coordinating meetings.
- Support attorneys with data entry, document drafting, and editing to ensure compliance with legal standards.
- Schedule appointments, interviews, and court dates while maintaining effective phone etiquette when communicating with clients and external parties.
- Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized records for easy retrieval.
- Assist with client interviews and prepare summaries or reports as needed for case preparation.
Skills
- Proven proofreading skills with attention to detail in legal documentation.
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as LexisNexis.
- Strong project management capabilities to handle multiple cases efficiently.
- Excellent interviewing skills for client interactions and information gathering.
- Experience with document management systems like iManage or similar platforms.
- Solid administrative experience with proficiency in clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and phone etiquette.
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage case files, deadlines, and schedules effectively.
